Invest in a Water Purification System
Water is vital to health and can be the leading cause of disease in the developing and industrialized world if not managed properly. Safe water is essential for human life and a fundamental human need. Each person alive today requires 20 to 50 liters of clean, safe water a day for drinking, cooking and cleaning themselves. Water that is not clean, is not just dangerous, it is deadly. Do you remember the time when there was a chemical leak or an oil spill by a water source? Media coverage is all over it and for good reason. Although we rely on the water department of each county and state, there are many ways that we can ensure we have safe and reliable water for ourselves and our children.
Over the years, I have researched many different options for ensuring safe and effective water for myself and my family to drink. At the end of the day, when I accounted for what I wanted, what my spouse wanted and what we could financially afford, I opted for the Zero Water Filter. This water filter is much bigger than the brita water filter as it does not just filter for taste but for many chemical compounds too. There are hundreds of chemical compounds that leach into our drinking water that are not safe and that over the years can lead to irreparable damage to our bodies. The Zero Water Filter is an ion-exchange filter that removes virtually all dissolved solids and heavy metals from tap water delivering a more hydrating water. With a higher number of filtration states, Zero Water Filter will reduce the number of health risks than an average Brita filter. Although a little pricey, once you purchase the system, you will spend $49 for a pack of 4 easy to install filters every 4 months which is worth it for the health benefits in my opinion.
Another option, and one that I really hope to be able to afford in the future, is a whole house water filtration system that is a reverse osmosis system with a way to add back in the healthy minerals removed from the water such as iron, calcium, and manganese. Although this system has many health benefits, it is a bit pricey costing thousands of dollars. For now, we will be sticking to our current water filtration system...although for 2020, here is a list of some amazing water filters for you to review.
1. Aquagear 8-Cup Water Filter Pitcher: BPA free, DPA approved material, reduces fluoride, chloramine, and mercury in water and has a long filter life.
2. Big Berkey Gravity Fed Water Filter: portable, handles fluoride, arsenic and reduces other metals and chemicals, durable material, long filter life and includes a stainless steel bottle. It can remove 99.99% of pathogenic material.
3. Home Master Artesian Reverse Osmosis System - best under sink system: removes more than 99% of most dangerous contaminants in the water including heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, chlorine and other chemicals and even hormones.
4. Invigorated Water Alkaline Water Pitcher
5. Brita 42629 Slim Water Filter Pitcher: NSF Certified, small - fits inside fridge, BPA free and affordable
Although there are many water filters out there, these were just a few of my favorites and ones that are affordable and convenient. Stay safe, stay healthy and always make sure you are drinking fresh and clean water!
