Natural Remedies for Cuts and Bruises
As the summer approaches, the weather gets warmer and kids start leaving the house to play outside, cuts and scrapes happen more frequently. Whether it is falling off a bicycle or tripping over a log, kids will start crying over cuts and bruises. Fortunately, you have a way to make it better! In addition to a bit of TLC, try a cool lavender compress to help prevent infection and promote healing. Lavender helps to take the sting out of cuts and scrapes while eliminating bacteria. The cool compress provides additional relief to help stop the swelling!
Ingredients:
1 pint cold water
6 drops lavender essential oil
1. In a medium glass bowl, add the water and lavender essential oil.
2. Submerge a towel in the water, wring it out, and apply the compress to the wound.
3. Leave the compress in place until it warms to body temperature.
4. Repeat this treatment, using a clean cloth each time, until bleeding stops.
Another great remedy to have on hand is a tea tree oil first aid spray. Tea tree oil has been touted for it's antibacterial properties ever since it has been discovered! Tea tree oil makes the ideal natural hand sanitizer, bug spray, deodorant, antiseptic, etc. To prevent infection in wounds, you should also try this Tea Tree Oil First Aid Spray.
Ingredients:
4 ounces purified water
40 drops tea tree essential oil
1. In a dark-colored glass spray bottle, add the water and tea tree essential oil, and shake well to blend.
2. Spray the blend on the wound.
3. Allow the wound to air-dry after the treatment.
4. Do not repeat this treatment after a scab forms.
