Natural Remedy for Heat Rash
When the summer sun comes a calling, the extreme heat can sometimes cause a heat rash. The rash typically affects areas of the body covered by clothing. Heat rash usually looks like tiny pimples, and although it typically affects babies, children and adults can also be affected. So, if there is no fever, swelling, pus, red streaks or swollen lymph nodes, then heat rash can easily be treated naturally at home. Otherwise, seek medical attention.
Skin-Soothing Eucalyptus-Lavender Bath
1 cup baking soda
4 drops eucalyptus essential oil
4 drops lavender essential oil
1. In a medium glass bowl, add the baking soda along with the eucalyptus and lavender essential oils, and stir to combine.
2. Draw a warm bath and add the entire treatment to the running water.
3. Soak for 15 minutes. Use caution getting out of the bath, as it may be slippery.
4. Repeat this treatment daily as needed.
In order to cool the itching and inflammation of the heat rash, you might also want to make this cooling chamomile-peppermint mist. I love the smell of peppermint and chamomile...this might also make a great aromatherapy.
4 ounces water
8 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
2 drops peppermint essential oil
1. In a dark-colored glass bottle fitted with a spray top, add the water along with the chamomile and peppermint essential oils. Shake well to blend.
2. Spray the blend onto the affected area.
3. Repeat this treatment every 2-3 hours as needed.
